About

Originally aired during the 1996-1997 TV season, the eighth season of The Simpsons has the family members finding themselves in some of the funniest situations the series has seen. The eighth season starts off with the annual Halloween episode, "Treehouse of Horror VII." Springfield also finds itself without the Simpsons as they move off to Cypress Creek in "You Only Move Twice." A hurricane hits not only Springfield hard, but also destroys the Flanders' homestead in "Hurricane Neddy." An alien sighting in "The Springfield Files" has Mulder and Scully of X-Files fame investigate the situation. "Homer's Phobia" sees Homer's awkward encounter with the gay owner of a kitschy merchandise store. Marge has become the town's new "listen lady" while Homer finds a Japanese dish soap box with his head on it in "In Marge We Trust." Homer's innocuous but neglectful behavior sets off Frank Grimes in "Homer's Enemy." Lisa joins Bart in a military school when she finds herself unchallenged at Springfield Elementary in "The Secret War of Lisa Simpson."
